1928 Distler, Clockwork Parading Monkey Drummer with Fez 2
Intricately detailed clockwork tin litho "Parading Monkey Drummer" made in Germany by Distler. Beautiful toy, works great, and everything original except for the tail which has been replaced. The toy is a 3-dimensional figure of a erect monkey standing on a large lime green base. He appears to be marching with one brown boot in front of the other. He's wearing a large red fez (which originally had a gold braid tied to it.) with a matching long red coat trimmed in gold and black. Wind the attached key and he strikes the drum connected to his waist with crossed drum sticks. Simultaneously he raises his head and tail up and down (in opposite directions). The edge of the base is embossed "Germany". It's the only identifying mark. Size: 8". Sold: Dec. 2012
